From my scouring of the interwebs over the last several hours, I sense that the general public doesn't appreciate the brilliance of the new hit single, "Friday," by Rebecca Black.
This song is brilliant. Never before has the difficult process of selecting a seat to sit within an already-full convertible been examined with this kind of cultural insight.
Ms black sings, "My friend is by my right, I got this, You got this, Now you know it."
Now you know it, indeed.
This artistry reminds me of one of my favorite local artists in Chicago. Lets call her Hobo Jane.
I recently attended this performance of Hobo Jane on the 50 bus in chicago. As seen in this photo, hobo jane is asleep at 3pm on a Saturday, balanced delicately in her chair. Notice the bag of styrofoam cups and tulle-lined prom dress.
She's clearly quite a brilliant performance artist, highlighting the balance we all hang in between beauty and falling down the stairs at the back of the bus.
Perhaps Rebecca Black is referring to Hobo Jane when she sings, "Partyin', Partyin' (yeah); Partyin', Partyin' (yeah); Fun, fun fun fun; Lookin' forward to the weekend."
